NAME OF ORGANIZATION:

BACKGROUND OF UFONE:

In 1990, Pakistan introduced its first mobile phone service called “Paktel”. After eleven years in January 2001, a new cellular company with GSM technology came into the market and they named it Ufone. The government of Pakistan granted them the license of Pak Telecom mobile limited to operate GSM 9000 all Around Pakistan. Ufone services are offered by Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), a 100% owned subsidiary of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL). Established to operate cellular telephony. The company commenced its operations, under the brand name of Ufone, from Islamabad on January 29, 2001. During the year, as a consequence of PTCL’S privatization, 26% of its shares were acquired by Emirates Telecommunication Corporation (etisalat). Now Ufone has network coverage in more than 3475 locations and across all major highways of the country. Ufone currently caters for International roaming to more than 200 live operators across 121 countries. GPRS roaming facility is available with more than 100 live operators across 80 countries.

NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES:

Currently there are over 1500 permanent employees working in Ufone nationwide. There are about 150 employees who are working in the Ufone Head Office and 2500 employees serving nationwide.

FIELD RESEARCH:

We will analyze how Ufone actually recruits, screens, train, reward and appraise its employees. We will also analyze the management and personnel. We will also visit the organization (ufone) to interview their executives and to grasp more information about the UFONE.

ANSWERING THE PROJECT TASKS:

To answer the project tasks, we will thoroughly study and analyze the organization’s background, its products and services, the management and and the employment matters in the organization.
