Types of Managers to Run Minimarkets

Leading a Minimarket

Great businesses begin as mini-shops and mini-markets. Therefore, the management of the minimarkets should contain a group of strong and well able managers who will lead and control all the business’s various fields. The management of any organization may start as Chief Financial Offers in charge of managing, implementing, and running all the business activities with time duties and responsibilities may shift towards a more sales lead through the need for specialization of the management roles. Managers are responsible for the activities and staff in the organization. The managers have the responsibility of playing a valuable role in the business’s success. The following are the types of managers that are needed to run the minimarket.

Kinds of Managers

Firstly a product manager is highly needed and must be a specialist who understands the company’s products and services in and out of the organization (Epstein 2014). The manager takes control of the products and assures that they give the customer the best option. Epstein (2014) talks of the product expert’s ability to demonstrate why the product is essential to the consumers, its manufacturing and selling styles, as well as comparing it with how competitors are producing and marketing it. The next manager to hire will be the marketing manager, whose role is to assist the business through promoting and selling its products to its customers (Calaby 2018). This is done by leading and influencing the consumers’ views regarding the product in the market. The duties of a marketing manager revolve around promoting the products and services all through to analyzing data and setting strategies of exactly how a company ought to grow. Therefore, a marketing manager is an essential manager to the organization as they attract more customers to the organization and raise brand awareness through marketing campaigns (Calaby 2018). The manager also assesses the type of market targeted by the product and how best to attract them.

The human Resource Manager is also an important person, especially as the organization grows. This type of manager takes away the hiring burden off the founder and, at the same time, handles employees’ issues when it comes to their benefits and satisfaction as a whole (Epstein 2014).  Another important manager the minimarket should hire is the financial manager who will be in charge of the organization’s financial health. Making a financial decision in any organization is vital and needs someone to control and manage such activities; hence a financial manager will serve the function well. Some of the tasks of a marketing manager, as per Chand (n.d.), are financial control, choice of sources of funds, determining the capital structure and determining the capital structure, among others.

Manager’s Characteristics and Employee Motivation

The above managers to be hired in the organization must portray outstanding characteristics that generally influence the organization’s employees’ abilities and role. One feature is leadership, which is defined by an effective manager’s ability to lead employees efficiently (CCU 2017). Managers are faced with lots of responsibility, as mentioned above; hence the ability to lead a group of employees is vital. The managers must have confidence in their decisions, experience, and skills; therefore, they should be proudly inspired by his team. Apart from confidence, respect for the sub-ordinate staff must be present, and the managers, since they are leaders, should be able to listen and communicate with them. As much as leaders want to be respected, they need to respect those under their leadership. Reliability is, in itself, another managerial characteristic of leading a team. CCU (2017) defines reliability as the availability of the leader for the other employees, being their support, and having things done.

A manager’s confidence motivates employees to be self-efficient by always acknowledging and remaining proud of their abilities. This is through setting their own goals without waiting to be challenged by others, including their team leaders. A leader who portrays self-efficiency, primarily through a positive impact in the workplace, improves their motivation (Buenaventura-Vera 2018). Hope at an organizational level is the orientation towards goals regarding setting, planning, and archiving them altogether. Goals, a reward system, resources, strategies, and training are necessary approaches towards motivating employees by giving them enough hope to work better. Being reliable leaders increases the employees’ hope by being their support and having the thing done better. Lastly, resilience is another motivational characteristic that a manager must portray to influence their team. As a leader, the team is looking out for their leader and their actions in different situations. Resilience is the ability to recover from an adverse situation (Buenaventura-Vera, 2018). A leader with such a characteristic encourages employees to be ready to come up strong even when they face lots of challenges and difficulties.

Leadership Style

The importance of leadership in an organization cannot be underestimated. The organizational leadership style directly impacts an organization’s culture, morale, and success (TBS Staff, 2019). Effective leadership means the ability to find a leadership style that is compatible with the organization and individual personality. The transformational leadership style incorporates a business organization’s navigation towards improving through changing existing procedures, culture, and thoughts. This is through leading as an example, engagement, and inspiration when seeking ways of getting the best performance from the team members. The top qualities of transformational leaders are motivation and innovation (TBS Staff, 2019). This leadership style encourages adaptive and expressive improved and new changes and practices in the environment (Al-Mahayreh, Kilani & Harahsheh 2016).

The business will adopt a democratic leadership style (participative leadership). Even as the organizational hierarchy exists, all the organization team players can work together through collaborative energy and group-level decision-making (TBS Staff 2019).  The qualities of these leadership styles are supportive and also accountability. Al-Mahayreh, Kilani & Harahsheh (2016) outlines that this type of leadership style involves the participation of sub-ordinate with their leaders in a shared decision-making process. The decision-making process is not entitled to the leaders only but also the sub-ordinate at large. Another leadership style that can be adopted is autocratic leadership, which involves giving the top management an authority to make vital decisions concerning the organization (TBS Staff 2019). Even as the decision-making process includes the team’s sub-ordinate members, the critical decisions are left in the hands of the top figures. For instance, the subordinate employees are answerable to their managers while the managers are answerable to the founder or CEO of the business organization. An autocratic leader is confident, decisive, and disciplined. All the three identified leadership styles will influence and determine the great future of the minimarket in its road to success.
