Answer: Melton is a place which is far from main city with a very few houses and a very few buildings. It’s just a small town having less number of people. At that time only one family of black people lived here having eight children. Basically this story related to Cora Jenkins one of the children who spend his childhood instead of playing, take care of her younger brother and sister their crying feeding and health care. Cora only did eight standards and then start working as a maid in the house of Studevant’ white people. Cora was not happy but it was her obligation because her mother was ill and her father was a dump man and she provide due to her brother and sister.

In the house of student she treated like animal. They called her Negress or Nigger in anger and behave badly, and then he met with a Greek boy Joe. After few months she had a baby with grey eyes named Josephine. She was very happy but after few years her baby died and she become very disheart and upset.

In the house of Studevant, Mrs. Art had a daughter Jessie who loved Cora more than her mother and trust her. She also told about her boy friend and when she had a baby she gave to Cora as her own child. She again become a very happy and loves her baby and Jessie but Mrs. Art didn’t like this. Jessie told Cora that her boy friend would come after few months and the get married but her mother didn’t believe her and want to left with her. Cora tried a lot but she could not Mrs. Art to brought Jessie with her in some other city but after few days when Jessie came back she had a disease in her body and she didn’t want live any more with the same condition. After few weeks Jessie has passed away and at the day of funeral Cora told everyone about her love and sincerity regarding Jessie and also told people about the truth of Jessie. Cora said that black people also have soft heart and they also give love to others but white people didn’t think like this. They consider them poor and bad people who have no rights to live happily and freely and even government don’t want to accept the presence of black people with white people at a balance level.

In the next story, we talked about the life of beautiful girl Delia who lived in central Florida with his poor workless husband Sykes. Delia spent his life by washing the clothes of people and earns money for her family. Delia also knowledge of snakes but her husband didn’t behave well with Delia. She was a beautiful lady but it’s all shine gone due to her husband. Sykes always abused Delia and beaten also even he start beating her after two months of marriage. Sykes was jealous with the beauty of Delia and thought she left him due to his poverty. So he tried to kill her with the poison of snake but he forgot that Delia also know about the snake. His plan gets opposite and he infected with the snake poison and his wife didn’t help him to save the life.

After study the stories of two ladies, we realize that no one wants that women get better respect. On the basis of color or cast we disrespect the people specially women. All are humans having the same rights to live their lives according to their own will but the people around us always interference in our lives. In some cases we take the advantage of the problem of other people and utilize their problem for our own benefits.

In the first story as we see due to color complexion Cora was treated as a Salve. Everyone use her even her parents used her to earn money. Cora was getting fed up with her life but at that point she avail a big happiness. People didn’t want to see her happiness but at that time Cora fight for herself. She realizes the people that she also has some feelings with soft heart and also wants to love someone. It’s not her fault that she born in a Nigro family. But now she has complete right to live her life happily and freely without any restriction and limitations.

In the second story, we discuss a life of a lady Delia who spent her life with lots of hurdles but she also want to live more in a respectful way. Although her husband didn’t prove a good man but still love him a lot and earn for both, but unfortunately her husband didn’t trust her just because of her beauty. He didn’t realize her beautiful and caring heart nor does he understand her true feelings regarding him. But his negative thoughts brought him to death.

Both women fight for themselves and survive their lives for their own happiness. In this world life of women is very difficult specially when society didn’t want to give their real importance and they tried to get their rights after great fight.
