Ethical Case Study Example

According to the study, it was unfair done with the programmer as her work was taken credit by the manager. This issue can be taken seriously as it is unethical to own someone’s work without permission. According to “Code of Ethics” (Courses.cs.vt.edu, 2017), one must be honest with his work and must credit only that work which is personally done by that person. Fake representation for credit of work must be reported so that serious actions might be taken against it. The manager has violated this code so he must be immediately reported. Secondly, it’s against computing profession as manager is involved in dis honest and fake representation of work. One must beware of such people who are having unethical behavior with other employees. It’s totally unprofessional as other employees will also be affected due to this action as their morale will decrease and no one will work hard again. This is because if anyone is not credited for the work done then he will never do any work with heart which will be crucial for the organization. It is also not good for social implications as respect of employees is devalued. So it is socially, morally and professionally not good for personal and professional development for employees and obviously the whole organization will be affected due to this action.

According to ACS code of Professional Conduct (ACS,1991), one must do work for the company not for himself which is also known as competence. All the work and research done by any employee will be owned by the company and company must credit the work by copyrighting the work. Company must credit the right person for giving appreciation to the employee. Company is responsible for misconduct or unethical behavior of any employee. So all employees must abide by the rules provided by ACS else ACS must declare it professional negligence and take serious action against it. Company is responsible for safety of rights of employees.

According to analysis, the manager has crossed the line and misconducted. He must be inquired about the action and a lesson must be taught so that reputation of company might not be affected. This type of employees are playing dignity of others so company has to do it for stopping violations of rights of other employees.

Also Study: Ethical Decision Making Case Analysis

Decision should be that survey should be conducted that who is actually responsible for the work and manger should be reported to ACS so that necessary action might be taken (Bigg Success, 2017). A penalty should be filed so that manager will not conduct this action again and others will also be warned about their conducts. Right people will be appreciated for the job to increase job satisfaction of employees and increase their morale.
